Television is a very powerful resource of influence on the modern society; it creates different stereotypes, directions, patterns of behavior. Considering it, it is especially painful to notice that the most of information transmitted by the mass media contain elements of violence in this or that form.
Hits, aggressive cartoons, great number of criminal reports and researches, negative news, etc. are the basic elements of a standard daily broadcasting. Millions of people (including children) watch these programs, read such articles and subconsciously begin to perceive surrounded life just the same as in the screen – dangerous and cruel.
Fear before danger makes to protect themselves, and consequently to begin armed and aggressive. But sooner or later this fear comes out; violence becomes part not media world but reality.
However, fear and violence are said by the researchers of mass manipulation to be not only initiative by only mass media. They are the part of well-designed management tactics.
For example, fear of terrorism makes people more obedient and gives the politicians ability to begin an approval aggression in their interest. Nevertheless, such violence will not seem amoral. Besides carefully measured images media people change sense line. “War” becomes “pacification”, “aggression” – “campaign to keep the peace”.
To make violence the part of human life manipulators use some more effects. For example, simple understandings, repeating some ideas are the common methods. Creators use transfer of good hero’s characteristics to form positive attitude to violence and weapon. If some respected persons can use aggression it will soon become a norm in this society.
